Listen to free Streaming Music in Canada

Listen to free Streaming Music online in Canada.
Being located in Canada sometimes we cannot visit and stream off the most popular sites out there like Pandora, so I have came up with a list of a few other great sites to stream music from online for free to us Canadians. I have put them in order of what I most prefer up top. Enjoy streaming…

grooveshark.com

grooveshark radio
Grooveshark is now my favorite streaming site, they now have awesome “explore” section with playlists created by all sorts of people and some by “tastemakers” which I find amazing as its always a good way to discover new music that you might not of stumbled across otherwise. I highly suggest giving it a shot, and listing to some playlists created by these tastmakers via the explore tab at the top of the page.

If you know the songs you want to listen to this is the site to visit, easily create playlists or pick from the current most popular music. Very nicely laid out website which is extremely easy to use. Grooveshark is an internationally available online music search engine, music streaming service and music recommendation web software application, allowing users to search for, stream, and upload music free of charge that can be played immediately or added to a playlist. Grooveshark aims to help bridge the growing gaps between artists, consumers and those in between who distribute, market, and promote music. Grooveshark streams 50 to 60 million songs per month, to more than 400,000 users.

Slacker.com

Slacker_Radio

Slacker is WAS my favorite (its now Grooveshark) [UPDATE: Mar 7, 2012], I just like the fact I can pick a genre and listen all day with very little to no ads. Slacker is an interactive Internet radio service, available in the US and Canada only. Listeners can access the service on the web, through mobile apps on multiple smartphones as well as on the Slacker Personal Radio Players and other devices. It allows users to create and share customized music stations starting with either Slacker’s presets or a list of artists. In April 2009, the service had over 2.4 million songs, organized into over 100 programmed stations and 10,000 artist stations.

Playlist.com

playlist radio
Probably one of the largest streaming music sites other then Pandora. Its the place to discover and listen to free music online, create free playlists,
and share it all on your favorite social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and more.

Sky.fm

sky.fm radio
Pick from a variety of ‘radio’ stations. Offers streaming radio services of other, non electronic dance music genres – such as Jazz and Pop Hits.

ShoutCast.com

shoutcast radio
SHOUTcast is cross-platform proprietary software for streaming media over the Internet. SHOUTcast Radio is a related web site which provides a directory of SHOUTcast servers. The software, developed by Nullsoft, allows digital audio content, primarily in MP3 or HE-AAC format, to be broadcast to and from media player software, enabling the creation of Internet radio “stations”.

  1. I think I found my new favorite online streaming music site…I agree with you slacker is great!

  2. I just found Slacker on my BlackBerry and it works there too – thanks!

  3. personally I prefer yTunes (www.y-tunes.com). Its a free online media player with a similar interface to iTunes (e.g. play lists, drag and drop, cover flow etc…), however yTunes sources all of its content from YouTube. You can create, add to, edit, and re-order play lists all without interrupting the currently playing video. Unlike radio based sites, you can listen to exactly what you want, when you want – without ads. Unlike Grooveshark, its completely free.

In addition you can also share you yTunes videos & playlists with your facebook, twitter, and email friends.

    great

  5. I lately found Jampri.com, quite simple and works great. Best features are the ability of friends to add songs to your playlists.

  6. Thanks. Slacker app works on iPhone, which makes it especially valuable.

  7. Thanks for the help. I used to use playlist.com but just recently I went on the site and couldnt listen to anything with it claiming “it may not be avalible in my country” so now Im using slacker and it was easy to find and start! <3

  8. I ran a few websites with playlist.com embedded into them.
When the Canadian side could not use it i ditched playlist.com

Slacker so far not that bad for both side of the border.

  9. Great country this Canada. Nice of them to make sure we’re safe from Pandora, Slacker, Turntable.fm etc. And really there’s no place to complain.

Thanks for your input. Made my day.

  10. Try jukeboxfor.me – it’s got all kinds of features and is constantly in the process of being updated and improved. Try it out!

  11. Love streaming grooveshark. Thanks usually us Canadians get the short end of the stick.

  12. everyone of these websites are blocked for me because the school district has blocked it. Is there anything else
